We were curious to find out what Intelligentsia Parklet looks like in its context, with verdant plants and people occupying the space within and around. It was built in 2016 for seasonal use (Spring and Summer time), as an extension of side walk cafe for Intelligentsia Coffee . This pop-up park is enjoyed by people in the historic neighborhood of Logan Square in downtown Chicago. Although we didn't get to experience the parklet in person, we came across this wonderful blog post about it on Streets Blog Chicago's website. Despite being a newbie to the trade show, we'd have to say that the show was a success! Thank you for those who took time to visit and chat with us at booth #1773, thanks to our neighboring exhibitors who were friendly and informative, and to S&C team who made this possible on top of many on-going custom projects at Standard & Custom.
Featured in our booth are KARUNADU multi-functional furniture series, HARU lamps, decorative metal panels, and undulating fin wall system:
S&C is looking forward to seeing the parklet populated with flowers, little trees, and people in Spring 2017
S&C completes fabrication of exciting new Parklet for Intelligentsia Chicago!
Working with architect Matt Nardella from Moss Design, S&C detailed and fabricated one of the most exciting parklets or "People Spot, a small area of the street, the size of one or two parking spaces, that has been reclaimed from cars and returned to people".
Installation of the Parklet will be completed in Spring 2017 in front of Intelligentsia Coffee Bar in Logan Square, a historical neighborhood on the northwest side of the City of Chicago.
More project photos and videos will be updated, so stay tuned! For more information on the Parklet, click the image above.
